Recorded monads in Cambridge

For the purposes of recording for "A Natural History of Cambridge"  the city can be regarded as the 8x8km grid from TL4261 in the north-west to TL4954 in the south-east.  A well recorded Cambridgeshire monad will normally have at least 100 species.  The actual median for monads with records is around 80, showing that most monads are under-recorded.  Urban areas usually have more than this.  For the Atlas 2020 recording period of 2000 to 2019 the median number for this area was 295 (315) species, with a lower quartile of 252 (258) species and an upper quartile of 411 (426).  The range for this core area is from 163 (168) to 676 (711) species.  For some statistics a hectad is a useful area, so species totals for the marginal kilometre are also shown, which reduces the median to 256 (265) species, with a lower quartile of 189 (193) species and an upper quartile of 363 (369).  The post 2000 totals are given first, with the overall totals in brackets.   Recording for the project was completed at the end of 2019 and figures were updated on 2019 December 10 using data from the BSBI DDb.
